Trash Management School Project started on September 14 with the group of students at orphanage named Fresh Nepal. After the observation of the orphanage, the need to teach students about the trash management was felt. Thus, this place was chosen for the workshop.
Students gathered in the common room. The concept of ‘trash management’ was introduced to the students. 20% of the students knew the meaning of ‘trash’ while 1% of them understood the meaning of ‘management’. The topic was explained in detail. Students were taught about the types of bin for the trash management.
They were more focused on the ‘recycling’ part and were keen to learn about what that meant. After the explanations, students were asked to volunteer to explain what they learnt. Three students raised their hands to participate. They confirmed that they knew about the project very well. Remaining proved their understanding by saying which trash went to which bin. The class had the practical aspect where students were told to make three bins. The thrown boxes along with newspapers and chart papers were utilized to make them.
The group was divided into 3 so that they could concentrate on one bin. At the end of the program, they built their own bins for the orphanage and kept to use them.
